Mom made a token effort to keep us aware of the holidays and traditions, and I was even bar mitzvahed. I was never bat mitzvahed, although I went to temple recently for the first time in years for my mom's bat mitvah. It was cool, I have to admit, because she worked hard for it. Synagogue is SO weird. I was in a Catholic wedding recently as well, and between Catholic communion and the ritual of parading the torah around to be kissed, I can't decide which is more bizarre! I do attend the seders at my parents' house, because of course not attending is heresy tantamount to skipping Thanksgiving. But my parents don't give me much crap about not observing the high holy days anymore. They just think I'm a fool for not taking a day off work <g>.6
