Monica,

Can I buy a stock and sell it but as soon as I sell it can I short the stock if I feel it will decline

Yes you can, provided it is not in an IRA. Not allowed to short stocks within an IRA. However, you may buy PUTS, which is allowed.

Another thougth would be to buy 2x or 3x ETF's ie.....TQQQ/SQQQ, QLD/QID where one will rise and one will fall. Basically switching as the signals tell you to do so for constant positive money flow.

Within in a regular account, you must establish a Margin account as well as having greater than 25K in account.

Dems are the rules.

http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=FB&p=W&yr=0&mn=... A WEEKLY chart showing that Facebook could have been shorted on the morning of March 24 at around 10am at the earliest. Or have bought PUTS.

As a swing trader, bought on December 9th, sold on March 24th and then shorted the stock the same morning or bought PUTS.

Hope this can help.
