Just received a proxy notification from HANS.

Looks like there are two upcoming changes (if approved by shareholders)

1.) Name change from "Hansen Natural Corporation" to "Monster Beverage Corporation". They say Monser energy drinks now represent the vast majority of the Company's revenues, and the name change will allow the Company to take advantage of the Monster Energy brand's substantial name recognition... more clearly communicate the Company's principal business activities to the investment community, our customers and business partners."

2.) Increase the total number of shares authorized for issuance by 120,000,000 shares, from 120,000,000 to 240,000,000 shares. I anticipate this will precede a 2-fo-1 stock split. The notice mentions that only other time the Company increased its authorized shares was on June 1, 2006, when it increased from 30,000,000 to 120,000,000. June 7, 2006, the board approved a 4-for-1 stock split.

The name change is interesting. I don't really see how it would make any difference to customers or business partners. Maybe some to the investment community, but really only to those that do minimal research into a stock. If anyone has any insight into the benefits of this, I'd love to hear it.

I will miss the HANS ticker symbol if that also changes.
