Moran invests in portfolios of stocks. I was told that there are no other loads or fees of any kind. They claim to be Certified Portfolio Managers and appear to have a full staff of analysts. They provided a document from Nelson's Directory of Investment Managers which lists them in the top 10 of Money Managers for 5 year and 10 year returns. The individual I met with was very professional and knowledgeable. On the other hand I believe that I have done well since I began to manage my investments this year. I retired at the end of last year at age 59. I had to invest direct rollover IRA's and a substantial taxable retirement lump sum. My return YTD from my investments in actively managed and index funds as of October 31st was +13.7% with a 55%/45% equity/fixed asset allocation. I have an MBA and I have spent a lot of time studying investing and financial management. My curiosity about Moran Asset Management is the long term record they presented and whether they could do a better job since they are professionals. At the same time, I'm skeptical because everything I've read seems to indicate that I could not expect to beat the market on the long term as they claim to have done. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I appreciate your feedback and I am open to any suggestions you may have.
