Insurers May Deny Sandy Fire Claims in Queenshttp://www.propertycasualty360.com/2012/11/19/cfa-insurers-m...In my view, insurance company shareholders should willingly suffer legitimate losses but I see a number of signs that political maneuvering threatens to sock it to insurers for losses that were not covered and for which policyholders paid no premium. That is annoying to say the least. And I say this with great sympathy for those who are impacted. But if society at large wants to assist those who suffered losses not covered by insurance then society as a whole should cover the costs through public spending, not trying to widen the coverage of policies retroactively.
