"Glenn, what's this?"
"Oh, that's, uh, just the box to something I bought for the computer."
"What was it?"
"It, uh, was a video card."
"What's it for?"
"Well, uh, it makes the computer's graphics better."
"What do you mean?"
"You know, it makes the computer's colors and stuff smoother."
"Was it not working right before?"
"Well, it was working okay, I guess, but I had some problems."
"Problems with what?"
"Um, this game I bought and was trying to play."
"You bought another game?"
"Um, yeah. You remember. I got it at Target."
"You said it was on sale. How much was it?"
"Well, it had been $40, and it dropped to $30."
"And it wouldn't run at all on the computer?"
"Well, um, it would run, just not real smoothly."
"Not smoothly?"
"Yeah, you know, all choppy and stuff."
"Could you play it that way?"
"Well, yeah, I guess. But it wasn't as much fun."
"So you bought a new video card?"
"Uh, yeah. And now it works great!"
"Okay. How much was the video card?"
"Oh. That. Um, well it was, uh, I'm not real sure."
"How much?"
"About $140."
"Well, $149.99."
"I see."
"But there's a $30 rebate that I've already sent in."
"Yes. $30."
"So, you bought a $120 video card to play a $30 game?"
"Um, well, I mean the card works for other things too."
"Like what?"
"Well, um, nothing we have right now."
"I see."
"Um, honey?"
"How about we spend the weekend at the Ritz-Carlton?"
"I think that would be a good idea."

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how No One Lives Forever:2 wound up costing me about $500.
