Mostly my point was to say that as a young practitioner it was driven home to me by this experience that no economic or community status, education level, profession, age, etc. is an immunization against mental illness.

So true.
I simply cannot imagine being dumped on the street in a hospital gown with nowhere to go and no one to turn to for help. Nowhere to get something to eat. Nowhere to sleep. Just wandering along - not even knowing where to relieve myself.

Or... perhaps it is because I CAN imagine this that I find it so frightening and so utterly incomprehensible that we allow such things to happen in this country.
