Much of the attention over the last few months has been on the new Fantasyland expansion at the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World Resort, and deservedly so. The new castles are gorgeous, the Storybook Circus a hit with kids, and excitement is building for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction, still a year away.

But over on the west coast, Disneyland quietly opened a new area to Fantasyland in their park and here is a look at your capital expenditures at work.

Who notes Disney is also introducing yet another in-park interactive adventure and has to wonder if this particular activity isn't being oversaturated...

Fantasy Faire at Disneyland
Disneyland debuted Fantasy Faire on 3/5/13, the park’s new home for Princesses alongside the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle, in a media preview and soft opening. Tucked away in an enchanted courtyard featuring details spanning decades of Disney’s most beloved animated films, Fantasy Faire features a Royal Hall where guests can meet some of their favorite characters, a Royal Theatre with storytellers recounting classic Disney tales, and some unique treats to dine on. The area officially opens in one week.

Magic Kingdom's Treasures Of The Seven Seas
Are you ready to experience a whole new pirate adventure?

Walt Disney Imagineering just shared a sneak peek at the new interactive quest, A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas, which will debut at Magic Kingdom Park this summer. In the game, the fate of piracy in the Caribbean rests in the hands of new pirate recruits, who, armed with magic talismans and treasure maps, embark on five different pirate raids throughout Adventureland to collect valuable treasures, while Captain Jack Sparrow’s magic compass guides them.

Here, Imagineers Jonathan Ackley and Matt Beiler offer up a look at a few of the quest’s cool special effects.
