I would appreciate recommendations for a *simple* Windows-based MP3 editor (preferably free). There are a ton of them out there so I'm a bit overwhelmed by the number of choices, so can you can help skinny down that list a bit? All I *really* need is the ability delete certain portions of a track (commercials, intro material), although the option to merge tracks might be occasionally helpful.

Background: I collect recordings of old science fiction stories and radio broadcasts. Some of them include lead-ins/intros and commercials which I want to delete. Also, sometimes a person will break up a book into multiple podcasts so it'd be nice to be able to merge those tracks together and have a single file for a book.
