I had the good fortune to choose to make my entrance into this world in the middle of a large family. I have many wonderful memories that I should write down because - the older I get - they become more dear. One of my older brothers worked in a drug store, and he asked us younger ones if we knew about Mr. Nobody who lived in my parents' closet. He would take us in and turn out the light and instruct us to ask Mr. Nobody for candy. We did. And we could hear the wrapped candies raining down on the floor. Then he turned on the light and we gathered up the booty. He denied that he had anything to do with it. He said it was Mr. Nobody. And we believed him to the point of going into the closet when he was at work and asking Mr. Nobody for candy. Now, I would love to tell you that, inexplicably, the candy rained down, but of course, it didn't. We just sheepishly assumed that Mr. Nobody wasn't there at that time.
