Interesting story on Rupert's desire to own the LA Times:http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/25/business/media/murdochs-ap...I'm not a proponent of Berkshire's newspaper strategy but at least we aren't buying the big city papers. As an aside, this weekend I was having a discussion with family members who have subscribed to a daily newspaper for the past 45 years. They now have an iPad and switched to Sunday only service because the local paper has a free app. Why Sunday only? Sounds to me like a matter of habit but even that is likely to be broken eventually. When people only a decade or so younger than Buffett start to abandon print, the end is drawing closer than we expect ... I maintain my prediction that in 20 years there will be no print dailies and I give 50/50 odds to extinction within 10 years.
