I apologize if this has been discussed before. I bought mutual funds earlier this year before I discovered the Fool and have now cashed out of those and moved my money into stocks. My question: will I still owe money on capital gains and dividends that the fund distributed AFTER I sold the funds? For example, I sold in May before any distributions, but since I held the fund for 5 months, will I be given the full 12 months' worth of capital gains generated by the fund (on top of my per share profit?) Or will I only receive a 5 month percentage of gains? None at all? Please help!
