Do I still pay capital gains taxes on Mutual fund shares that I redeem and then put back into the fund within thirty days??...Example..

I put $2000 into a fund, the fund grows to $3000, I redeem my shares, and then within thirty days of the redemption I put back the $3000 into the fund.

Someone told me this was a "Wash Sale", and that I wouldn't have to pay.

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
