Imagine someone saying to you that you could increase your paycheck by 60% in 2 years and 160% in 3 years. Sounds to good, right? Well, I did it. Sure, it cost me a liitle bit, relatively speaking, and I did have to borrow some money to get there, but the end results are still paying dividends.

I went back to school.

I was a lab tech doing medical research for $20,000 a year. After going back to school and becoming a Physician Assistant, my starting salary 2 years later was $32,000/year. (This was ~10 years ago.) After working in this position for 14 months, I accepted another position in the same city for $52,000/year.

This great increase in salary may not hold for everyone but if you compare the salary of people with a college degree and those without, the difference is striking. And it doesn't have to be medicine, or technology, or engineering.

An education is the best investment you can make. Go to school, learn a skill-----do something that will keep paying you long after that initial purchase.

Education---the ultimate dividend reinvestment plan.
