We never buy new, just replaced a 20 year old pickup with a "new to us" used truck. Most of our vehicles are driven at least 10 or more years. We've also found a way to spend lots less on groceries.

...I think it would just be nicer to have access to the money as you see fit and not necessarily on a distribution schedule....

I can see that. A Roth makes sense in a lot of ways, especially if you don't feel you need the tax break.

I think the amount you can contribute to both Roths should be increased. If the government really wants us to be more self sufficient, let us contribute more to the IRA's with the same benefits.
