I am working for a oil/gas company which I expect I will be let go by the June of next year. I will receive a package which about my one year salary. I am 40 years old and my wife is 37 and she just starts looking for a job. (We do not have any kid so far.

I start investing four or five years ago (in Nasdaq market) and I did very well until this year. (Which I lost about 25%-30% of my portfolio). I start to think what will be the best way to retire in style base on my current portfolio?

(1) Sell my stocks from NASDAQ to DOW or mutual funds? (or bonds)
(2) Still doing the Long Term Buy and Hold (LTBH) (But not focus on NASDAQ anymore.)
(3) or Keep my NASDAQ stocks, but continue investing in a much boarder range? (LTBH, BOND, mutual funds, stocks etc..)

I currently own a lot of NASDAQ stocks and it is very painful to watch them shrink within this year.

Please help, fellow Fools. What could be the best (better) solution on this issue?

I appreciate your any comment.

By the way, I also signed up for retirement planning lesson offered by MF.
