My goal for this board is to foster discussion on what high school students need to do to prepare the college admissions process as well as to prepare for going away to college. Although this topic focuses on the parent, teenage queries and perspective are also welcome. So welcome to the board and I look forward to your participation.

Hello Fuskie,

First off, thanks for starting this board. I am sure I will have a lot of questions.

I have a 17 year old daughter who is just finishing up here junior year. She is attending an international school in Germany and is in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program (http://www.ibo.org/). It is very tough and one of by biggest worries is of her getting burned out. The school's IB cheerleaders talk of this program as the end all be all plan, that if you don't obtain your IB Diploma, you won't get into a good college. Granted thier definition of what constitutes a good college is pretty narrow.

The whole college thing is a bit overwhelming for both my wife and I, along with my daughter. She is fairly sure she wants to return to the US and attend college there, but beyond that she is unsure of what she really wants to do or major in.

On the other side of things, there are also some big decisions for me on I will move back to the US as well.

I am sure I will have tons of questions in the future. Thanks again for starting this board.
