My Grandmother had one of these on her porch for years. The thing was 7 feet tall with arms all over it. It's a beautiful, easy to keep cactus. I believe my mother has a cutting from the same plant that (over the 10 years since Grandma died) has reached about 5 feet tall. It started as a 5 inch shoot.
Grandma would just cut the little arms off and stick them in the ground and grow a new cactus.
