My guess is, they want to be able to sell the loan at a moment's notice, but can only do so if they've run a recent account review on you.

Are you sure they can't say "You're late on 3 credit cards, we hereby declare you in default, pay us the whole thing next Tuesday?" I've seen some loan apps that seem to give the bank the right to do that.
