My mom started out as a real estate agent, then a Realtor and, finally, got her Broker's license and opened up her own office. I recall that my mom told me that she is to adhere to a strict code of ethics. One thing that my mother was proud of is that she was very honest and had a lot of integrity. That was just who she was and wasn't because of the NAR. Of course, that doesn't guarantee any Realtor will do that but it is an attempt by the NAR to oversee.
