My parents moved to the Jubilee retirement community in Lacey - right adjacent to Olympia. They love it. It's on two golf courses, has a lodge with a pool, exercise room, and billiards room. The community has lots of activities going on, and they made lots of new friends. Their house is luxurious, 2-bedroom, 2,000 square foot rambler (ranch-style).

As an investment the whole area is booming economically. Fort Lewis is gaining troops through the base closure process. State government always grows. Business parks are filling up with warehouses retailers stock with Christmas inventory - the idea of just-in-time inventory hasn't worked due to delays at the ports.

Housing prices grew 26% year-to-year in August in Thurston county. I'm hoping for one more year like that. Rents are a bit low, is the only problem. I'm not sure if I'll get the rent I'm asking.
