My sons play Minecraft a lot. They want to use my laptop. When I asked them why they don't use the iPad, they told me that it does not allow.
The iPad App Store has a free version of Minecraft and a full version for $7. There are also cheats and seeds and lots of other stuff there, so I'd say the other poster was right: you just haven't looked very hard. (Or at all, actually.)
It definitely means that a PC/Laptop will continue to thrive.
Actually it probably means laptops will continue to "exist". That is different from "thrive", as the latest sales figures from virtually every laptop manufacturer indicates.
Some significant portion of "next purchases" will substitute a tablet for a laptop, and will 'get along' with the old laptop for a few more years. For Microsoft that means fewer OS licenses and fewer Office sales unless they get into the tablet game in a big way, or unless they can convince people to rent the software year by year instead of purchasing it once.
