I'm helping my brother do his taxes this year and I'm a bit confused on the VA return. He worked one job in VA, two in AL (where he also filed a PY return) and received VA unemployment while residing in AL. The federal return has a line for unemployment pay and AL doesn't tax unemployment pay. I'm thinking he needs to include the unemployment in Column B1 (federal income) on page two of the return then enter it as a subtraction down below to get his VA AGI. Is this correct? Thanks.
