Neither is an infant, an elderly woman with alzheimers, a severely disabled child.

So true. I know them all. The woman I admire most has a "child" who has Downs Syndrome. She cares for this "child" (now in her 50s - the child) and has a fairly normal life besides. She asks for no help, though her friends do give when they can. She is always chipper. I'm guessing nearing to 70 (we don't aske in our circle). And she provides the space for the Wednesday Afternoon Recorder Group that actually meets in the morning. <g> I dunno. People with values do what they have to do.
