Never have seen the problem with just having people vote on Election Day. Well, that pretty much seals it -- you haven't seen it so it must not exist.OTOH, if you're willing to accept evidence beyond your eyes consider the following if but for a moment....1) Advance voting means fewer voting machines are needed on election day as demand is less and lines are shorter.2) If a person has any questions about their eligibility to vote, advance voting provides an opportunity to see if there's a problem and possibly get it resolved so they can vote by Election Day.3) Some people travel for business, have shift requirements, or have other job situations where leaving to vote is simply not an option. Sometimes people know they will be gone and use early voting as an alternative; sometimes people know there is a possibility they won't be able to vote and use early voting as a hedge against that possibility.
