...to remind them of how socialism always turns out. This board game will give goofy and intercst a glimpse of what things will be like when they've succeeded in abolishing evil corporations and putting benevolent government in charge of everything.Polish game recreates communist shopping hellhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-12380433Poles have been queuing to buy a new board game called "Kolejka" (The Queue), which recreates the tedious shopping experience of communist-era Poland. "We hope it will show young Poles how difficult it was to buy everyday supplies like sugar, bread or furniture," said Karol Madaj, the game's designer. The game comes in a box designed to look like it was wrapped in brown paper and tied with string. On top is a coupon, which the communist authorities issued so they could ration items like meat.Between two and five players compete to be the first to buy the 10 items on their shopping list.... The problem is that the shelves in the neighbourhood shops are empty and players must queue without knowing which store will soon get a delivery.____________________That's silly. When I was in Warsaw in 1993, I went to the store that had been the only department store available during Soviet times. It was still a depressing and small place. However, by 1993 there were lots of other shops you could go to. And things were rapidly changing. Grocery stores closed at 5:00 pm, and if you wanted food after that forget it. By 1994, in Czech anyway, shops were open later - like 8:00 pm, and not just in the tourist areas. And now Hungary has huge Target-like stores opened for long hours. Things truly have changed.arrete

That's silly. Socialism just hasn't been run by the right people yet. Goofy would do a much better job.--fleg I've heard that same line many times from liberal friends and relatives.I had a BIL straight up tell me once, after we debated for a while on the merits/demerits of socialism:"Socialism, despite failing everywhere else, would work in the US because no other nation has such a generous population of independent, free-thinking, responsible individuals with a solid moral base".I just stood their dumbfounded, thinking about the implications of his statement. ........ Pointing out to him that those very socialist nations had plenty of people with those same character qualities BEFORE collectivism crippled them into wage slave drones was useless as he had the equivalence of his fingers in his ears."I just know it will work... I just know it will work.... It has to work... Otherwise, I'd be wrong and an idiot!"decath
