I wasn't sure if I wanted to get a new rat after Willy died, but Sammy was utterly despondent so I dedided that we needed to add a new guy.
As luck would have it, there were 98 (98!!!!) ratties in need of rescue here in Southern California due to the "Animal Actors" feature at Universal Studios having been sold mixed genders instead of all male rats.
I found out about it when I checked out Sammy's breeder's site; looking for a new baby.
So after an inquiry, I got an e-mail from the RMCA rescue lady here in Orange Count and was advised there were two black (one a berkshire) and two siamese babies available.
I went to look at them yesterday and, yes, came home with two.
Robby is a sweet little 6 week old siamese guy who is just now moulting his baby-coat, so looks like he has a little chocolate cap on. He was super squirmy when just out of the cage, but settled right down in my hands and even started giving me little kisses - something he hadn't done for any handlers previously. He's teeny! So adorable.
Moose is the 8 week old black berkshire (Schred wanted to name him Warren!) and appears to be an heir to the Adventure Rat franchise. He's very curious and sweet. He's mouthed me a couple of times, but no biting so far. Berkshire just means he has a white belly.
I'm smitten ... utterly and completely smitten!
No introductions yet to Sammy, but I placed the cages side-by-side and Sammy's definitely intrigued.
