As a new name suddenly popping up here, I should introduce myself. I'm not new to MF, but I only noticed the state boards the other day--and took a stroll through New York.

As a fast profile: I live in the Village, the area where the almost-West Village and SoHo and TriBeca intersect. Small apartment with huge garden (the view makes working at home largely agreeable, despite no real office), 2 kids--h.s. junior and college junior. I'm a medical/science/health writer. My husband directs a cardiac rehab research program. I speed walk around Washington Square Park for exercise. Got to know areas of the city--and beyond--during my son's travel soccer years that I'd never have seen otherwise.

Been a New Yorker for most of my life--first in Queens, where I grew up, then here in Manhattan (upper West Side--before it was gentrified--then down in the Village). I look forward to talking about our town, and hearing about other views and experiences.
