So did you upgrade? Own or rent? Any crack ho action?

We replaced our floor last week, and had to empty the whole place out, what a pain.

A few years ago, my wife bought some shelving modules from Home Depot and installed them in our bedroom closets. She took out the original shelves and hanger rods, which were pretty crappy and wasted a lot of space. The new things work great and probably tripled the storage capacity of the closet.

One good thing about the floor is that we had to empty the closets too, and I was able to finally get some good pics of the shelves if you want to see them (maybe I should post them on the Maintaining a House board). They are so easy to install, you don't even have to know how to screw. A hammer will do it.

Your shelving is relevant to my interests.

Part of the crappy installed-by-the-condo-developer shelving in my walk-in closet fell down a while ago. Once I cleared it away I realized it opened up enough space to turn that closet into a nice little dressing room, if I wanted. I'd need to optimize the remaining shelving though.

It's nice, I'm renting, there are no crack hos! Instead there are lots of doggies and I get to sit on my balcony after work watching them all walk by en route to the Pooping Area.

I'm not sure what you're saying about the shelves, but I am set on that front, thanks :)

One nice thing about this stuff is you can decide how much full-length hanging space you need, like chicks need for dresses, and how much half-length (pants/shirts) you want, so that you can have two rows, top and bottom. But the different modules (shelves, hanging space, wire drawer baskets) can be put together however you want.

How do you get stuff out of the hanging baskets? Do they slide like drawers?

I remember there being some kind of discussion here about closet storage space years ago, around the time my wife did this project. I never realized how much space is wasted by the generic shelves and hangar racks that come with a place.
