Received a new Celestron Nextstar 102GT yesterday. Much to my surprise a cold front blew through here in Northern VA and the clearest, calmest skies seen here since last Winter were availible for "First Light".

IMO, this scope is a good one to get back into the hobby with. I set it up at dusk and viewed the heavens until 2AM. There is a little light polution in my area, but even so I was able to get a good view of the Andromeda Galaxy and my favorite double star Albiero in Cygnus. Can't wait to try the scope out on the Planets.

I was shopping for a larger refractor in the five to six inch range, but decided I would go with a smaller, less expensive scope to re-acquaint myself with the heavens. The last time I had a scope of my own was when I was 16. I'm now 52 with a little more time on my hands after a 27 year Army career.

Now the hunt is on for some good accessories.

Clear Skies,
reconair
