Whenever I watch CNNfn or MSNBC during the day they list the Dow, Nasdaq and S&P 500 in the lower right corner. They also list the "30 Year Bond", with a price (i.e. 100.82) and a yield (i.e. 5.42).

Here's my question. What exactly are they referring to here and how does this affect Series EE Savings Bonds, if at all. The EE Bonds accumulate interest for 30 years – is this a coincidence or are they somehow referring to these bonds here?

Thanks in advance for any info and for not laughing at my naivete.
