The Holiday Inns I've stayed at recently seem better managed than in the past, and I gather BAS management is trying to unload non-performing pubs and real estate. The stock has begun to rumble upwards and seems like a fairly good, albeit not very exciting buy. Low P/E, not a bad dividend, and not too much debt.--isn't this a haven from high tech/ Y2 jitters? And after all, what's not to like about a co. named after Bass Ale?
