. . . no more in N’Orleans, grump. After publishing a daily newspaper fur da last 175 years in N’Orleans, da company dat bought da newspaper bout 10 years ago decided to publish it only 3 daze a week from now on, starting October 1st, to save money. So, after getting it delivered to the house fur da last 23 or 22 years, we dropped our subscription. Lots of udder folks are in shock (See; http://media.nola.com/opinions_impact/photo/30september12col... ) and many of dem are dropping their subscriptions, too. ;-(
The Advocate, Baton Rouge’s daily newspaper, opened a N’Orleans office and is starting home delivery. On da TV news Friday night was a story bout da Advocate’s problems wid home delivery in da N’Orleans area. Day still trying to work out da kinks. Day axed one of dare managers bout it and he said dat day bes overwhelmed. Seems like day getting bout 1000 new subscribers a day in the N’Orleans area, them. We had someone from The Times-Picayune call us last week wanting to know why we dropped it and would we like just Sunday only delivery fur only $3.00 a copy? Since we can buy it in da machine at Acquistapace’s Supermarket or da Tobacco Shop next to Rouse’s Supermarket in Covington fur $2.00 a copy when we goes to church, DW said no, her. ;-)
C.J.V. - don’t think much of The Times-Picayune’s business decision, me
