No doubt you can pay for this OOP, but in my experience, if you worked all your life to get to a million on deposit, most are more than happy to insure that for a few thousand a year from the risk of spending it down.

Not me. Looking at my family history of women, the last 2 generations lived alone into the 80s and spent <3 years in any type of care. More than 30 years of paying or something to cover a few ? I don't think so.

30*$3000 = $90000. I'll keep it and pay when needed.
