No, I don't think it is correct. The way you state the problem I suggest that you owe $3,174 to the State. Completely aside from that you overpaid your Tederal tax (which includes $2,051 of AMT) by $2,317 and will get that as a refund. Why would TT tell you you overpaid Federal tax and then tell you you owe more Federal tax?

As ira suggests, look at your 1040 and if the AMT of $2,051 is on line 44, and the overpayment of $2,317 is on line 71 I'm correct. Otherwise, I can't figure out what you question is. ed
