No, I don't. This is a horrific crime, but horrific murders (unfortunately) happen every day. That's no guarantee that the story will go 'viral', and end up monopolizing news coverage the way that the Jody Arias or Scott Peterson trial did.

Right. For a crime story to get continued media coverage there usually has to something ongoing about it, like a "who did it" mystery, a debate over the guilt or innocence of an alleged perpetrator, or some issue of public policy, like "stand your ground laws" or whatever. Or drama.

This case, as sensational and horrific as it is, so far has none of that.

The Zimmerman case, by comparison, had at least two or three: 1) the "civil rights" aspect, i.e. the racial context of Zimmerman initially getting off without charges, and the history of whites killing black men without legal repercussion, 2) "stand your ground" and gun control laws, and 3) will he be found guilty of murder or not?
