Thank you for the kind welcome to TMF. I appreciate it.

I used to be a member of TMF before the fees were instituted, and I just never got around to rejoining until now. I think there is a wealth of information that can be gleaned by bouncing ideas of others.

I am trying to determine an underlying "philosophy" with umbrella insurance. I think I have it figured out with life insurance - i.e. only buy life insurance if others depend on your income (I know I am simplying a little here because some use life insurance as a key component of estate planning).

But I haven't been able to figure out a smilar "philosophy" with regards to umbrella insurance.

I hate to talk with professionals before I have educated myself enough to 1) ask intelligent questions, and 2) be able to detect BS or a lack of knowledge.
