Normally, acceptance letters go out April 1st.

Is that a GA thing, or a thing of the past? The other four schools he applied to have been welcoming him since last October. He got his applications in early September. Fortunately, his second choice was the second to let him know, and he would have been content enough to go there so he wasn't pulling his hair out, but it's been a tough wait.

And as for rivalries, your son will soon bleed yellow and gold...

Nothing would make me happier, unless it was FIL still being alive so that he could know that his first grandson was going to his alma mater. One thing we were hugely impressed with was the retention rate at GA Tech. I would love for Eldest to be so happy there that he not want to transfer elsewhere.

...may have to include becoming Braves and Falcons fans,...

He might, egged on no doubt by my niece and her husband in NC who drive down to Atlanta for games when they can, but at best I'll be able to root for them if their win doesn't impact my teams. Even after close to 20 years in Philadelphia, I can't get any warm and fuzzies for the Eagles or Phillies. Sports is a topic I avoid in this rabidly sports enthusiastic area.
