Not really a pet peeve, but it bugs me anyway. You're listening to a "hit" radio station, and after a song that's in VERY heavy rotation, the DJ comes on and gives the title, and then says "by request". Why are people requesting these songs? They're played every couple of hours at the longest. If they request the song too soon after it's already been played, it won't get played until enough time has gone by, i.e. in it's normal place in the rotation, and then the DJ says it's a "request". If it doesn't get requested at all, same thing---same approximate place in the rotation. Requesting a song that's not normally played makes a helluva lot more sense.
