Not to be inflammatory, but the reason Columbine got so much media play while the others didn't is because in Columbine everyone was predominately white and the school was in a wealthy community, while in all the others one or both of those conditions don't apply. Don't have that much to say about Elephant. I think it is a very beautifully shot, well made film. I think it was great Van Sant used mostly unknown, inexperienced actors, which really made it feel real. There is just such a spooky reality to this movie, in the characters, the story, and the resolution, which makes this so compelling and haunting. I'm also a bit puzzled about the scenes with the bulemic girls. I think it is partly to throw in a lighthearted moment, but also to show the shallowness of some members of society which could be an explantion for a contributing factor leading the shooters to snap. I'm also puzzled by the point of the gay shower scene.I guess just all the scenes in this movie are just meant to add up to an overall feeling of uneasiness and discomfort.
