I, like many people thought I understood 401k, IRA's pretty well, but hearing stuff at work lately, I think I may have been missing out on a lot of possibilities. I wanted to see if anyone might be able to clarify a few things.

1) If I leave my present job in which much of my 401k contributions are going to the company's stock, can I keep that money there or do I have to convert it into one of my new employer's 401k options?

I think I know the answer to this which is that it can become a rollover IRA, I just can't make any more contributions to it?

2) Can I set up an IRA which is composed of an individual stock? If so, how do I set this up with my broker and what do I do if I want to then sell it someday and buy another stock, but still keep it as an IRA and defer the tax?
