NS, you wrote:

THe choices I have in my 401k plan are as follows.

Merrill Lnch
Retirement preservation Trust
Corporate Bond Fund
Capital Fund
International Equity fund
GLobal Allocation Fund
S&P 500 Index Fund
Small Cap Index Fund

MFS
Massachusetts Investors Trust
Research Fund

Could some one please help me pick, say 3, from these and the percentages I should allocate to them.

You can research these funds yourself at Morningstar's website. In Fooldom, we believe when you have an S&P 500 index fund as one of your choices in a 401k plan, then over the long haul that's probably going to be the fund that will give you the best growth on your contributions. Most Fools would put all of their money in such a fund. You, though, must make that choice for yourself based on your research of the funds involved.
