Obamacare IS a medical disaster for young people. It charges young people high rates in order to subsidize low rates for the elderly.

Meanwhile, we charge high auto insurance rates to young people and give older people low rates.

You and others have repeatedly made this assertion, and it's simply not true.

ONE: people's auto insurance rates are determined by their risk, not solely by their age. It's a simple fact that most younger people are more likely to have an accident than most older people (up to a certain age). This is based on things like general risk taking behavior, lack of experience driving, etc. However, a 56 year old dude with several accidents and tickets on his record is certainly going to pay more for the same coverage as a younger person with a pristine driving record.

TWO: it's simply not true that "young people are charged higher rates to subsidize low rates for the elderly." Do some research. HealthSherpa's a good place to start--put in a zip code and an age, and you'll get prices for various levels of health plans. For example, in my zip code, the rates for a 26 year old vary from $110/month to $325/month. For a 59 year old, the rates go from $290 a month to $827/month.

But, go ahead, continue to ignore the facts and cling stubbornly to your incorrect beliefs.
