<<“… whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity … is above my pay grade.”>>

While Republicans pooh-pooh McCain's amazing - and almost unfathomable - knowledge of what the internet even is or does, they simultaneously mock Obama for not being a scientific and theological expert on the subject of abortion. McCain meanwhile - having apparently ZERO expertise in either area, comes down with certaintude this his way - and only his way - is acceptable.

Yes, Senator Obama, providing an absolute answer on abortion truly *is* above your paygrade -- it's one for the Creator or, in absence of His direction, perhaps McCain.

Abortion is the least desirable of birth control methods and working to minimize the number of abortions should be our goal (just as you, Sen. Obama, said). I have some friends who are about to have a great grandchild. Tests have revealed that pretty much the entire grain cavity is gone. (As was relayed to me about the situation, the doctor said "there's nothing behind the eyes.) Doctors have offered several choices:
- abortion
- carry the fetus to term, knowing it may well be stillborn or die almost immediately afterward depending on the parents' decision regarding how long life support can be provided and financed.
- carry the fetus to term, knowing that the almost infinitesimal chance exists that the child might survive but be no more than a vegetable forever.

A decision has not yet been reached on what to do. The parents are talking with their minister, family, and the doctors. This may well be the toughest one of their lives. The pity is that their situation is not a singular one.

Perhaps the greater pity though is that people like John McCain want to insert themselves into process. This from a man whose party said it wanted to focus on "family values" and uses phrases like "the government which governs least governs best." Well parents, doctors, and families step aside - John McCain in the role of self-appointed Messiah has now come forward to make the decision for you. Let us all bow in His direction.
