I thought I would give a follow-up to the post I made in December about where to travel on a budget.http://boards.fool.com/8-weeks-vacation-on-a-budget-ideas-30...My wife and I will be heading off to Costa Rica for three weeks on Saturday. There is a lot to see there but we decided to not try to see it all and to just relax a lot. Here is our itinerary and some of the prices in case anyone is interested in seeing what is possible on a budget.Saturday, fly into San JoseFirst week: Condo near the beach and Manuel Antonio National Park from VRBO for about $75 a night.Second Week: No reservations because we want to be flexible. We will probably go to the hot springs near the Arenal Volcano and then go on to the Monteverde cloud forest along with some other things along the way. Third week: Samara Beach (Pacific Coast). We found a three star hotel with good reviews for just $59 a night since it getting past the high season. Fly out of Liberia in the northern part of Costa Rica. This turned out to be a good choice since it looks like President Obama will be visiting San Jose about then. Our schedule is pretty open so we are still open to suggestons on things to see while we are thereWe decided not to get a rental car for the majority of the trip but we may rent one for a few days as we need it. It looks like they have good public busses, affordable taxis, and shuttles that will take us to most of the places we will want to go to. The rest of the vacation time that I need to take this year looks like it will be used for a wedding and road trips in the US.Greg
