I got a free report from TransUnion because I don't get the best insurance rate due to my credit report (which, according to my insurance agent, the rate only goes to a very teeny, tiny fraction of a percent of the population and is only about $20/yr cheeper).

So I got my report. It had an account from Associates National Bank which wasn't mine. It's a current account so at least isnt' hurting my score. But after looking them up on the web, I wonder.

Does having a company like this on my report hurt me with other creditors?

I have disputed it but the new report came back with the account still there. I am planning on adding a statement to report stating it is not mine, never has been, and TransUnion is the only CRA reporting it.

But should I try harder to get it off my report?
