OK, this story proves what an airhead I am!

Went to junior high school in the early 60s with a guy named Gene Klein, who also dated my best friend MaryAnn (at that time).

Bumped into him on 42nd Street several years later and
he told me he was starting a band.

More years passed and I bumped into him in a gym in
Manhattan, but I couldn't remember his name. He asked me
if I remember the meeting on 42nd Street when he told
me he had started the band? I said "Yes, I remember,
but I can't remember your name."

He responded, "Well, I used to be Gene Klein, now
I'm Gene Simmons." To which I replied, "Well, I used
to be Irene Smith, now I'm Irene Evans. So how's the
band doing? Are you making a living at it?"

To which he responds, "Oh yes, I'm making a living at it."

After several more minutes of talking about old friends, etc.,
he asked me, "You still don't know who I am, do you?"
And I replied, "You're Gene Klein."

And he added, "Now Gene Simmons... of KISS."

WOW, did I feel STUPID (but I'm hoping it was a refreshing
experience for him!)

I've also met:

Ann Gillian
Ann Miller
Mickey Rooney
Tom & Dick Smothers (The Smothers Brothers)

And I see Charlie Rose quite often walking down Park Avenue.
