Aside from increased exposure to radiation, is there any disadvantage to using a cell phone as your primary phone? I'm contemplating doing exactly that. Why?

1) I firmly believe that telemarketers should not have the freedom to call any land line they please without consequence. I think they should, at a minimum, be charged the price of a postage stamp (amount it would cost them to advertise via U.S. mail) and that charge should show up as a credit on my phone bill. In my opinion, when 3-4 calls per evening are telemarketers, this severely diminishes the value of that phone line.

2) I pay $40-$45 per month for the local land line service from Verizon. That includes the $7.50 for Caller ID to help screen out telemarketers. I pay $15-$20 per month for long distance from Talk America. That brings the total to $55-$65 per month for the land line from Verizon that is continually getting bastardized by telemarketers.

3) It's illegal for telemarketers to call a cell phone and I can find a cell phone plan for $40/month that satisfies all of my calling requirements.

1+2+3 = A savings of up to $25/month and NO MORE TELEMARKETERS. Plus, I'll finally have that cell phone everyone keeps telling me I should get. I use Comcast cable for internet access. So, am I missing something here or is there really an obvious advantage to ditching my Verizon land line?
