Older people are more likely to avoid purchases of houses, cars, and other pricey items that the Fed is trying to encourage with record-low interest rates.

I pay cash for all purchases (credit card balances are paid in full when the bill is due) so low interest rates to borrow mean nothing to me. I did not go out and boost my spending when the Fed lowered the interest rates.
