In a recent game, playing East, I picked up the following hand.

Dealer: East
Vulnerable: East-West

S: A K J 5 4 3
H: K 5 2
D: A
C: J 5 4

The auction proceeded as follows.

North East South West
1S 2C Pass
2H 2S 3C Pass
Pass Pass

West dutifully led the nine of spades, and the dummy came down (East hand repeated for convenience.

Dealer: East
Vulnerable: East-West
Contract: 3C by South
Opening Lead: 9 of Spades

S: Q 8 2
H: A 8 7 4
D: K 9 8 4
C: K 6

S: A K J 5 4 3
H: K 5 2
D: A
C: J 5 4

The declarer called for the deuce from dummy, so I played the jack and declarer followed suit with the six. I then led the king of spades, on which declarer followed suit with the seven, east sluffed the three of diamonds, and dummy followed suit with eight. Choose your line of defense, then see the first reply to this message for mine.
